Progreso is a port city in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula on the northwest coast. It is one of the newest ports for large cruise ships and a common port of call on Western Caribbean itineraries, including those departing from Florida’s ports. Progreso’s lovely waterfront promenade is always packed with food and craft merchants, local residents, and beachgoers, while the seas immediately off the coast are peaceful, clean, and safe for swimming. Downtown Merida, just 25 miles from Progreso, has been a popular meeting place for both visitors and Yucatecans. Progreso Beach is the ideal place to soak up the rays and enjoy the beach near Merida. Progreso Beach has a lengthy white-sand beach with blue water where you may sit under a palapa, swim in the sea, and have food and drinks delivered to your sand area. The village is often regarded as the entry point to the Mayan ruins on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. Chicken Itza, Dzibilchaltun, Uxmal, and many other beautiful ruins can be found in Yucatan.
