Grenada, an island country in the West Indies in the Caribbean Sea, is made up of the main island, two smaller islands, Carriacou and Petite Martinique, and other small islands to the north of the main island that are part of the Grenadines. St. George’s, on the southwest coast, is also the primary port, with a beautiful natural harbor and pastel-colored residences that slope up the hillsides from the waterfront. Grenada is known as the “Isle of Spices” for its spices; the island is the world’s second largest producer of nutmeg, as well as a prominent producer of cocoa, cinnamon, mace, cloves, vanilla, and ginger. Hiking and swimming are popular outdoor activities in Grenada. Concord Falls has three waterfalls, one of which may be reached by car and the others by hiking, but all three offer excellent swimming. To further explore the magnificent Caribbean waters around the island, rentals for sailing, parasailing, diving, kayaking, windsurfing, and snorkeling are available. Snorkelers and scuba divers can see colorful tropical fish and other sea life while exploring the reefs close to the coast. Furthermore, the Grenada Underwater Sculpture Park exhibits sculpture indicative of Grenada’s culture while also serving as an artificial reef and home to a diverse array of marine life.
