La Romana is a port city on the Caribbean coast of the Dominican Republic. Central Romana Corporation constructed a new port on the east bank of the river to accommodate the growing number of tourists after reaching capacity at its original location. Altos de Chavon is a Mediterranean artist community from the 16th century that was built on a hill above the Chavon River. In the heart of town, you’ll find an obelisk decorated with vibrant scenes from local life. Catalina Island, located south of the city, is home to beautiful beaches, vibrant coral reefs, and the sunken pirate ship of William Kidd.
