Roatan, Honduras

Coxen Hole

The beautiful Caribbean island of Roatan, the largest of Honduras’ Bay Islands, is about 40 miles off the northern coast of Honduras and is a common stop on Western Caribbean itineraries, particularly those departing from Florida ports. It is the largest of Honduras’ Bay Islands, situated between the islands of Utila and Guanaja. The island is close to the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, the Caribbean’s largest barrier reef. The island is well-known for its beaches, crystal-clear water, sunny weather all year, brilliant blue skies, scuba diving, and eco-tourism travel.

Roatan has two passenger terminals: Mahogany Bay and Coxen Hole. The Coxen Hole cruise ship dock and tailterminal complex is home to Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, and Norwegian Cruise Line ships. A bank with an ATM, a large Diamonds International store, a couple of restaurants, and a few other shops, including a pharmacy and a liquor store, can be found here. Carnival Corporation manages Mahogany Bay, which services ships from Carnival Cruise Line and Princess Cruises. The chair-lift system is a unique feature of the Mahogany Bay terminal. It takes passengers directly from the terminal building to Mahogany Beach.
